Almost three years ago we visited Beijing in winter. It was freezing cold, especially coming from the warmth of southern Yunnan. We visited the Summer Palace, the lake of which was nearly completely frozen. Many people ignored the warning signs to stay off the ice, and risked a walk/slide on the frozen water.
In China there is an annual celebration of the moon, aptly called Moon Festival. There is a beautiful legend linked to this festival, and it is an occasion to get together with friends and family to watch the moon in its fullest glory. We happily join in with the latter, which over the years has resulted in quite a few moon photos. According to the news, this year's moon was the roundest in quite some time.

Whereas I have a passion for coffee, my wife has a passion for photography. Our years abroad have been documented in countless photos. Some of them just snapshots, others with a story behind them. Once a week we pick one we would like to share with you. Archives
